NBCC International (NBCC-I) was created in 2003 as a division of the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. & Affiliates (NBCC). NBCC-I promotes the strengthening of the counseling profession worldwide. NBCC-I promotes:

	1. Quality assurance in counseling practice,
	2. The value of culturally sensitive counseling,
	3. Public awareness of quality,
	4. Professionalism in counseling, and
	5. Leadership in credentialing.
