Dr. Szilagyi is both the Director of NBCC Romania and the Associate Vice President of European Board for Certified Counselors (EBCC), located in Lisbon, Portugal.  As Associate Vice President, Dr. Szilagyi organizes and facilitates NBCC’s efforts with counselors and organizations interested in collaboration on a wide variety of efforts.

Dr. Szilagyi began her work with NBCC as NBCC International’s first International Counselor in Residence, a position she held from August 2003 to July 2004 (see this page for more information about this NBCC-I program). Dr. Szilagyi is currently also an Associate Professor at Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiesti and is one of the first counselor educators in Romania.

Dr. Szilagyi’s expertise is strongly oriented towards the practice of career counseling, particularly with Eastern Europeans (in educational and business organizations). She is also at the forefront of research investigating counselor education in Romania, the role of large-scale professional contracts on the development of the profession, and certification across borders. She is a Global Career Development Facilitator (www.cce-global.org/home) since 2003 and a National Certified Counselor since 2005. Dr. Szilagyi also holds memberships in several counseling associations internationally.

Raised in Rm. Vâlcea, Romania, Dr. Szilagyi earned her degree in Education at the University of Bucharest (1995) and her Doctorate in Education at “Al.I.Cuza” University of Iasi. Her doctorate was the first in Romania with a counseling theme.
