![]() WHAT GCDF IS The Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) is a career development facilitation certification that has assumed an international perspective. This credential, the first designed by an NBCC affiliate or division to incorporate flexible training hours and education requirements, identifies competent career development facilitation professionals. The GCDF, which includes 12 curriculum and competency areas has been adapted for use in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, China, Romania, Bulgaria, and Germany. The Career Development Facilitator (CDF) project was initially developed in 1997 through a collaborative arrangement between the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc.(CCE), the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee (NOICC). WHY GCDF IS IMPORTANT The GCDF and its country specific variants are helpful in identifying which career development facilitation providers have demonstrated command of core skills to help persons make informed career choices. In light of world economies changing because of globalization, competent career counseling-related services have become even more critical. GCDF certification mechanisms help governments, professional associations, and consumers feel assured their career development facilitation professionals are well trained and experienced.
