	Mental Health Facilitator (MHF) Providers
	In many instances, MHF-trained providers will be medical practitioners adding to their expertise, while in others they will be community members (e.g., teachers, volunteers, other leaders) with no formal health training. The MHF training program is designed to address the clearly identified need to improve access to mental health care while also assuring high quality care. The role MHF-trained providers have in the overall spectrum of services is defined on a context-by-context basis. MHF program developers do not intend to introduce MHF-trained providers as members of a new profession. Providers retain their own professional identity (e.g., physician, teacher) and add mental health facilitation skills to their practice.
