The VII Counseling Congress of the Americas and the VIII Venezuelan Interdisciplinary Counseling Congress were held in the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. The theme of this joint event was “Challenges in the Versatility of Counseling: Wellbeing, Inclusion, Equity and Social Justice.”
A two-week institute for counselor educators and practitioners will be held in Bhutan October 24-November 12, 2012. The purpose of the institute is to introduce counselors to Bhutan as well as provide an opportunity for brief counseling and teaching.
NBCC International (NBCC-I), a division of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), manages the Mental Health Facilitator (MHF) program. The MHF is a 30-hour curriculum that trains laypeople, paraprofessionals and professionals from outside mental health in areas such as helping skills and referral.
With many enthusiastic and insightful professionals in attendance, the Asociación Mexicana de Orientación Psicológica y Psicoterapia (Mexican Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy; AMOPP) celebrated its III International Encounter in the city of Leon, Mexico, October 13–14, 2011.

A three-week institute for counselor educators and counseling practitioners will be held in Bhutan October 4-28, 2011. The purpose of the institute is to introduce American counselors to the country and to give counselors from the United States an opportunity to provide counseling services to the citizens of Bhutan.
The First Annual National Counseling Conference in Thimphu, Bhutan, was celebrated on February 7-8, 2011. The conference, the first of its kind in Bhutan, was sponsored by Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women (RENEW), the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Royal University of Bhutan and NBCC International (NBCC-I). The conference offered a platform to provide practical knowledge and skills related to the ongoing application of counseling in Bhutan and the United States.
The Venezuelan Federation of Counselors’ Associations (FAVO), an organization with more than 2,000 members, conducted its I International Symposium December 8-10, 2010, at the University of Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The theme for the symposium, “Advances in Counseling – Philosophy, Pedagogic Address, and Emerging Praxis,” drew the attendance of a large group of counselors, government officials, students and related professionals.
The VI Counseling Congress of the Americas was celebrated in Mexico City on November 4 to 6, 2010, with a theme of the Role of the Counselor who Faces Diversity. The congress gathered counselors, students, and related professionals at the Universidad Iberoamericana and the Universidad de las Américas de Ciudad de México.
The International Forum of College Student Career Planning 2010 is being held in Beijing from October 29 to November 2, 2010. This year’s theme is the “diverse developmental model and technical practice of the career planning system.” All GCDFs are invited to attend, and all overseas GCDFs will enjoy free registration on the summit forum (October 30 & 31).
