NBCC International (NBCC‑I) was founded by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Board of Directors in 2003 to advocate for and collaborate on the development of professional counseling worldwide.
NBCC‑I does this with the utmost care and respect for the social, cultural, political, and economic realities of the areas where we are invited. We offer a range of programs based on internationally applied standards and templates, and then we collaborate with regional and national organizations as they shape their credentialing policies, assessment methods, and training requirements to the needs of their populations.
Just as NBCC-I advocates for and collaborates in the development of professional counseling worldwide, the European Board for Certified Counselors (EBCC) serves as a regional hub for NBCC-I’s activities in Europe. EBCC collaborates with partners in Europe to create educational programs in areas of specialization, including career development, mental health, supervision, and other specialty areas targeted to a country’s specific needs.
We continue to work toward advancing mental health care worldwide and reaching more underserved and never-served populations by promoting certification and professionalism in counseling.
